Tata Punch Mileage Test – Can It Deliver 24 KMPL?

The Tata Punch is one of the most talked-about and most awaited cars in India right now and it is rightly so as it not only offers an extremely good looking design and a practical package but is also one of the safest cars in India. With the Tata Punch price to start from INR 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom)(expected), the Tata Punch gives tough competition not only to its main rivals like Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 but also competes with cars like Hyundai Grandi10, Maruti Swift, etc. Having said this, the Indian buyers always have one question in their minds – KITNA DETI HAI? Hence we planned a genuine Tata Punch mileage test where we drove the car in mixed usage conditions and the results will definitely surprise you!

Just like every other fuel economy test that we have done in the past, the car’s fuel tank was filled up to three auto-cuts to ensure that there are no errors in your tank-full-to-tank-full method. Following this, we did reset the trip meters and began our journey. With AC set at 21.5 degrees and fan motor speed at one, the cabin’s temperature was comfortable enough for us to have an early morning start. We drove the car for the next eighty-four kilometres inside the city and on the highway where we not only encountered some traffic but also drove the car through bad roads. By doing this, we ensured that the Tata Punch mileage figures that we get would be genuine and similar to what a person can expect with the correct driving style.

At the end of our Tata Punch mileage test, the car was taken back to the fuel bunk. The same procedure was followed and the fuel tank was refilled up to three auto cuts. The car gulped in 3.52 litres of petrol. Simple calculations revealed that the car delivered a genuine mileage of 23.94 kmpl. For a car of this size, these mileage figures are definitely impressive.
