The new 2020 Skoda Rapid will get the new BS6 complaint 1.0-L TSI engine. No diesel TDi engine will be available with the car.
The 2020 Skoda Rapid will be launched in the country very soon. The company also started the bookings for the Rapid since mid-March. The car will be powered by a BS6 1.0-L TSI engine which will be mated to only a manual gearbox at the launch. However, a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox maybe launched soon after.
The 2020 Skoda Rapid will be the first car to be launched by the brand in its BS6 updated line-up once the lockdown ends. The brand also stared accepting bookings on the payment of RS 50,000 but the amount was eventually reduced to half. The VW Vento, on the other hand gets an MT and AT gearbox which comes mated to the same engine option.
The Skoda’s new 1.0-L TSI engine is a three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The same engine is seen on the VW Vento and in the Vento, it produces 110 HP and 175 NM of torque. The engine in said to be BS6 complaint and in the Rapid, will be paired to a 6-speed MT.
Not much has changed in terms of styling for the Rapid. The 2020 Skoda Rapid will be available in five trim options – Active, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. The entry level, Rapid Active will be available in Candy WHite and Carbon Steel exterior colour options while the Ambition and Style variants can be had in four colour options – Brilliant Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White and Carbon Steel. The Rapid Onyx on the other hand gets two colour options- white and Lapiz Blue while the Monte carlo variant will be available with Candy White and Flash Red colour options.
The 2020 Skoda Rapid is priced from Rs 8.7-11.7 lakh (ex-showroom prices) and undercuts the VW Vento bu almost Rs 15,000 for the equivalent models. The Rapid Rivals against cars such as the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and the VW Vento.
