As per confirmed reports, Mahindra Thar is expected to get a new entry-level variant. In the new entry-level variant, we will see a drop in the Mahindra Thar price. Read on to find more details.

Right from the launch, the next-gen Mahindra Thar is booming in the Indian automotive market. It’s just been six months that the car has been launched and it has already crossed the 50,000 booking mark. However, according to a recent report, Mahindra & Mahindra is working to introduce an all-new variant of the Mahindra Thar in the market with the main aim to lower down the Mahindra Thar price.

Mahindra Thar Price

Currently, the Mahindra Thar is available in 3 variants- AX, AX(O), and LX. The Mahindra Thar price starts from Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It is no secret that the Mahindra Thar has been a getaway success for the Indian carmaker and the brand is now aiming to make the Thar more affordable.

New Base Variant Details

So far, it is believed that the new base model will get a 1.5L three-cylinder engine that comes mated to a manual gearbox as standard while an automatic will be available as an optional upgrade. However, this variant will not have an option for 4 wheel-drive and will be available only in 2 wheel drive option. This will help the company keep the prices low and competitive.

The new engine which will be introduced in the new base variant of the Thar might not be that powerful but its main aim is towards providing a good fuel efficiency to the car. While there will be no major changes made to the car, the wheelbase is expected to be smaller.

However, Mahindra offers two 1.5L engines, a 1.5L mStallion turbo petrol which will debut soon and a 1.5L diesel engine that also powers the Bolero and Marazzo. Concluding all the information that we have so far, this model can be priced as low as under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
