The Tata Punch CNG will not only offer cheap running costs, but in addition to this, will also be priced aggresively to take on other rivals like the Hyundai i10 Nios and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG.

The newly launched Tata is one of the best products in the segment right now. It not only offers an attractive exterior design and a comfortable cabin but in addition to this, also scored a five-star safety crash test rating. The car is backed by the brand’s dependable after-sales support and is powered by a 1.2-L three-cylinder motor. As per the reports, the Tata Punch CNG may also be introduced in the market soon. Here are all the details about the upcoming Punch CNG in India. But before we start, do join our exclusive AutoHunters Auto Enthusiasts Whatsapp Group (Click here to join) interesting automotive discussions.

The Tata Punch CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-L Revotron engine that will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Needless to say, the maximum power and torque output of this version will be less than the petrol model. In the petrol variants of the car, this engine churns out 85hp of peak power output while the maximum torque delivered by this engine stands at 113 Nm. The car gets a five-speed manual gearbox as standard while an optional AMT gearbox is also on offer. The performance from this motor is decent and the refinement levels too are commendable. The CNG variant too is expected to offer similar refinement levels.

Having said this, the Tata Punch CNG price is expected to start from around INR 6-6.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. Once launched, the Punch CNG will compete against the cars like Hyundai i10 Nios CNG, WagonR CNG, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG. The brand is also said to be working on a CNG model of the Tata Tiago that will be introduced in the coming few months.

The rising fuel costs and increasing traffic translates too very high running costs for cars and hence the new car buyers are now slowly shifting towards the CNG alternatives. The sales of electric vehicles too is improving as they also offer extremely cheap running costs. Tata may also launch an electric version of the Tata Punch next year. The Tata Punch EV will be a great choice for anyone who is looking for a reliable and safe electric hatchback.
