Citroen is all set to launch the new C3 in the Indian market and has shared a number of details including engine options, trim options, transmission options, etc. The C3 takes on the rivals like the Maruti Ignis, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, etc in India. Tata Punch Vs Citroen C3 – Engine and Gearbox
The Citroen C3 is expected to be offered with two engine options – 1.2L NA petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol. The naturally aspirated unit will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the turbo will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. No automatic gearboxes are on offer for the buyers.
The Tata Punch is only available with a 1.2L Revotron naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine that churns out 86hp and 113Nm of peak torque output. This engine in India is available with a 5-speed manual or with a 5-speed AMT transmission option. No turbocharged iteration is on sale currently but we do expect Tata to launch the Punch Turbo and Punch CNG in India in the coming months.

Citroen C3 Vs Tata Punch Dimensions
Unlike its rivals, the Citroen C3 boasts an elegant and premium design language that looks different and fresh. Having said this, the C3 boasts bumper-mounted headlights, a prominent front chrome grille, machine cut alloy wheels and big and bold LED taillights. Just like the more expensive C5 Aircross, the Citroen C3 also stands out from the crowd and looks appealing and sophisticated.
The Tata Punch boasts a strong and commanding design language that gives it a strong road presence. A high-set hood, bumper-mounted headlights, high-ground clearance and impressive approach and departure angles make the Punch an extremely capable micro-SUV. In all, the Tata Punch does look good and will appeal to a wider range of buyers with its bold and SUV-ish design language.

The Citroen C3 is expected to be offered with only two variant options in India. In addition to this, as mentioned above, the Citroen C3 will be available with two engine options. On the features front, the C3 will get a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted buttons, digital instrument console, etc.
The Tata Punch on the other hand is available in four trim options – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. In addition to this, a number of add-on packs are also available with the Punch. Features like push-button start, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, digital instrument control, etc. In short, both cars will offer a similar set of features to the buyers.
While the Citroen C3 will offer a premium and a comfortable package to the buyers, the Tata Punch on the other hand offers a practical and well-suited package to the buyers. In all, both these cars are equally good but it is the Tata Punch that has an edge, all thanks to its well-established after-sales network. The C3 however is expected to offer better comfort when compared to the Punch.
