The Tata Punch is one of the safest cars on sale in India and scored a GNCAP crash test rating of 5 stars!

Tata Motors is currently focusing on offering well-built and safe cars for Indian buyers and the Tata Punch is one of the safest cars on sale in the market. Currently positioned as the only micro-SUV in the brand’s line-up, the Tata Punch boasts impressive safety levels and recently proved its build quality when it collided with an electric pole in one of the incidents, leaving the pole in two parts. Here are all the details about the Tata Punch accident that you should know.

Tata Punch Pole accident

For those wondering, this incident was reported from Assam where a Tata Punch collided with an electric pole. The car, which is expected to be doing some high speeds, collided face on and broke the pole into two halves. It is however worth noting that despite such an intense collision, the cabin of the Punch had minimal damage and kept all the occupants inside the car safe. The body panels including the hood, A-pillars, and the roof sustained damage during this collision.

The broken half of the pole fell on the rear half of the car, leaving the boot lid heavily damaged. In all, the accident does give us a fair idea about the build quality of this micro-SUV and also makes us aware of the importance of buying a safe and well-built car.

The Tata Punch is the second most affordable Tata car in India after the Tata Tiago and takes on the rivals like the Maruti Ignis. It is currently being offered with a 1.2-L Revotron motor that comes mated to a five-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The brand is also said to be working on a new CNG variant of the Punch that will be launched in the coming months.
