Hyundai i20 cheaper variant is now introduced apart from the other variants, Magna, Sportz, and Asta (O). The car will rival against Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tat Altroz
Hyundai i20 is one of the top-selling hatchbacks in the market. Third gen Hyundai i20 created hype in the automotive market last year. The car was definitely a better version as compared to its previous generation, however, the price of the car dragged the customers away. Now coming up with the all new Hyundai i20 ERA the company is trying to boost up the market of i20.
Talking about the sales figures of this segment, Tata Altroz has beaten Hyundai i20 in sales for the month of June 2021 and i20 also lost its number 1st position to Baleno and has since been number 2nd.
2021 Hyundai i20 ERA
The new i20 is available with four trims: Asta, Asta(O), Magna, and Sportz. The top variant of the car is offered with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, BlueLink connected car tech, LED headlamps, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, an air purifier, and much more.
In the meantime, Hyundai will launch a new base variant of the i20 called ERA which will be considered as the base model of the car and will not feature any fancy features.
Being the base variant the 2021 Hyundai i20 ERA will miss out on a lot of features from the box. You will not get the piano black finish from the front grille and so are the projector headlamps. Till now the projector headlamps were offered as a standard feature in the i20. Headlamps are halogens, same as on offer with Magna variant. Foglights have been removed as well. Alloys have been replaced by 14 inch steel wheels. In comparison, Magna gets 15 inch alloys, higher variants get 16 inch alloys.
You will notice many changes in the ERA variant as many things have been removed from the car. Side turn indicators have been removed from ORVMs and placed on the front fenders. ORVMs are no longer power-adjustable and are now manual. Rear tail lamps are no longer LEDs. Body-colored door handles are on offer with the ERA variant of 2021 i20. There is a roof-mounted antenna on offer, despite the car not having any audio system on offer.
Moving onto the dashboard area, you will see a black finishing. Steering mounted controls include RESET and TRIP meters only. Steering adjustment is not on offer. There is no central lock on offer. Power windows are on offer only for the front passengers and drivers. For the rear passengers, there are manual windows on offer. Boot space remains the same. In the boot, you will find a spare wheel of the same size along with tools to replace the wheel if needed.
This car is offered with three engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This base variant ERA is expected to be offered with petrol 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre diesel options. Talking about the price factor, the car is expected to be priced 50-80K lower than the current base i20 Magna which is priced at INR 6.85 lakh(Ex-Showroom).
