ŠKODA AUTO has been responsible for pressing ahead with the INDIA 2.0 project on behalf of Volkswagen Group since June 2018, the all-new Skoda Kushaq is the first vehicle from Skoda under the 2.0 project.
Skoda recently revealed the all-new Skoda Kushaq in the Indian market. The name Kushaq is derived from Sanskrit, an Indian language, and means a king or an emperor. This mid-size SUV from Skoda is the very first model from the VW Group’s India 2.0 project. The all-new Skoda Kushaq is similar to the Vision IN concept. Read on to find all the details of the car.
How is the Exterior?
The Production-spec of the Skoda Kushaq is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, and the exterior of the car is pretty much similar to the Vision IN concept. In the front, you will see a dual headlight-setup with the old, wide Skoda grille. However, to give it a more sporty and aggressive look the front bumper has many creases and cuts.
Moving onto the side looks and design of the car, it gets a bold character line with a body cladding on the lower parts of the door and around the wheels too. If you go with the top trim, you will get roof rails and 17-inch diamond-cut-dual-tone alloys.

The SUV is 4,221mm long, 1,760mm wide, and has a height of 1,612mm. Its long wheelbase of 2,651mm –which is among the longest in the segment –and a ground clearance of 188mm makes it appears much larger than it actually is. The ŠKODA KUSHAQ offers plenty of space for five occupants and, with a capacity of 385L, has a generous boot. Skoda will offer five color options – Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, Tornedo Red.
The rear of this car gets a roof spoiler and a faux diffuser with silver finishing. You will get LED taillamps that add much more to the look of this SUV. All-in-all the Skoda looks similar to its elder siblings, Kodiaq and Karoq.
What are the powertrain options?
The MQB version is specially adapted for India, the MQB-A0-IN platform gives this car liberty to equip itself with advanced and efficient TSI engines. Thanks to their low fuel consumption, the direct-injection petrol engines enable long ranges. The entry-level 1.0 TSI produces 85kW (115PS) from its displacement of one liter. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.5 TSI has–as its denomination suggests –a displacement of 1.5-liters. Its power output of 110kW (150PS) is delivered to the front wheels via a manual 6-speed gearbox, the same as with the the1.0 TSI. This engine can be configured with a 7-speed DSG with gear ratios that offer a perfect blend of sportiness and comfort.
How attractive is the interior?
As soon you get inside the car you will observe a layered dashboard with a thin chrome bar that differentiates the top from the bottom. You will get a 10-inch touchscreen that will have all the smartphone integration, AC vents are positioned just below the touchscreen, under which, are the feather-touch HVAC controls.
The production-spec Skoda Kushaq will get a two-spoke steering wheel, as same as the newer Skoda models like the Superb and the upcoming Octavia. The steering wheel will have scroll wheels and buttons for audio and phone controls, voice commands, and cruise control.
