BS6 Effect: Honda discontinued its diesel variant of civic.

Honda Civic diesel discontinued. The most recent age of the Honda Civic was propelled in India in mid 2019 with a BS6 compliant petrol engine and a BS4 diesel engine. Presently that the BS6 emission norms are in effect, Honda has ended the diesel Civic until further notice, however plans to get it back later in 2020. The carmaker has likewise ceased the diesel CR-V which was furnished with a similar engine.

The diesel engine offered in the Civic was a 1.6-liter unit tuned to deliver 120PS of power and 300Nm of torque. It was just accessible with a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda had been offering the diesel variants of the Civic with heavy discounts worth up to Rs 2.5 lakh to clear up its BS4 stock. The diesel Civic was offered in two variants – VX and ZX – priced at INR 20.55 lakh and INR 22.35 lakh, separately (ex-showroom Delhi).

While Honda doesn’t expect to cease diesel autos through and through, the carmaker was forced to pull plug on the Civic and CR-V diesel for the present. The BS6 update could probably have been delayed even more due to the on going pandemic. Honda had as of late presented the BS6-compliant 1.5-liter diesel engine in the Amaze sub-4m vehicle and should offer this engine in different models as well, similar to the up and coming fifth-gen City just as the refreshed Jazz and WR-V.

The Honda Civic is now limited to a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a CVT automatic. It produces 141PS of power and 174Nm of torque. The petrol Civic continues to be offered in three variants – V, VX and ZX – with prices ranging from INR 17.94 lakh to INR 21.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It continues to rival the Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra.
