Tata Nexon Facelift – Top 5 Things We Know

The upcoming 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will likely launch in August with updated interiors, exteriors and new powertrain options

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Nexon a product that transformed the fortunes of Tata in the Indian car market. The combination of a tall stance with a curvy design philosophy was a bold move from the Indian automaker, and it surely paid off. With over 12,000 units sold every month, Nexon remains the highest-selling SUV in India and a market leader in the EV segment. It is however no secret to anyone that Tata is working on the new Tata Nexon facelift later this year. Tata is going to unravel the facelift of the Compact SUV, a final one before the upcoming next-generation Tata Nexon makes its debut sometime in 2024 or 2025.

Upcoming 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Spied – Things We Know

New Design

The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will see some noticeable changes in the department of looks and design. As per the leaked spy shots of the camouflaged test mules, the Compact SUV seems to have borrowed some of its style cues from the Curvv SUV concept. The daytime running LEDs will sit above the split headlamp, while the main headlamp will sit in the bumper. Another addition would be the new star-shaped alloy wheels, redesigned radiator grills, and dynamic turn indicators on the high-end variants.

Updated Interiors

The leaked spy shots also gave a sneak peek of the upcoming Nexon’s interiors. The SUV will be offered with a two-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive haptic buttons and a couple of toggle switches, once again inspired by the Curvv concept. In another borrow from the Curvv, the Nexon compact SUV is also likely to be offered with a toggle switch for the HVAC control placed alongside the new touch panel on the redesigned center console. We are also expecting to see a new digital instrument cluster, as seen currently on the Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari.

New Turbo Petrol Powertrain Option

It is expected that the new 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift will get the same 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine that made its debut alongside the Curvv ICE concept. The new power plant reportedly produces 125 PS of power and 225 NM of torque, a jump from the current 120 PS and 170 Nm of the currently on-sale model. This engine would be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, as well as a new DCT automatic transmission available as an option. As for diesel, Tata is unlikely to make any changes, as the 1.5-litre turbo diesel was recently upgraded to meet the BS6 emission standards. This engine is also expected to be offered with an optional automatic gearbox.

Tata Nexon Facelift Price

From what we know so far, the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift price in India is likely to start from Rs 8-9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the range-topping version might cost close to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a clear premium over the outgoing models, which are available for Rs 7.8 lakhs for the base Petrol XE MT trim, going all the way to 14.8 lakhs for the top-of-the-range XZA Plus LUXS Red Dark Diesel AMT.
