With the competition rising and the demand for the compact SUVs going up, companies such as Kia and Toyota have pulled up their sleeves and are all set to launch three upcoming compact SUVs in the market this festive season. Let us take a look at the upcoming compact SUVs.
Kia, the Korean automaker, will launch the eagerly awaited Sonet compact SUV in the nation in September-October 2020. Showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Kia Sonet will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable car in the market. It will straightforwardly compete against the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Ford EcoSport, and cars in the segment. In view of the Hyundai Venue’s foundation, the Sonet will come in 3 engine alternatives – a 1.2L petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel, and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic variants will be on offer.
The mini-SUV will be furnished with a few section driving highlights including UVO Connect associated car technology, wireless charging, Bose-sourced premium sound framework, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking camera, LED headlamps with DRLs and LED tail-lights.The starting price of the Kia Sonet is expected to be around Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Toyota Urban Cruiser
To deal with the stiff competition in the segment, Toyota will present the re-badged form of the Maruti Brezza in India during the festive season. Supposed to be called Toyota Urban Cruiser, this mini-SUV will get some design changes which will differentiate it from the Brezza. It will have Toyota’s family front look and redesigned tail-lights. However, the general profile will continue to be similar to that of the Brezza.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that also powers the Brezza. The same engine churns out 104 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque in the MS Brezza. Transmission options incorporate a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed AT. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is expected to be priced around Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be a direct rival to the Brezza, Venue and the EcoSport.
It is a no secret to anyone that Renault is working hard to launch its first Sub-4m compact SUV in the Indian market ahead of Diwali this year. Supposed to be known as the Renault Kiger, the conservative SUV will be founded on the CMF-A secluded stage that also underpins the Triber MPV.
The Kiger is expected to be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that will make around 96 bhp and 160 Nm of maximum torque. Both manual and CVT automatic variants are probably going to be on offer. The French automaker may also include the 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Kiger’s line-up. This engine produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The upcoming Renault Kiger compact SUV is expected to be priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be one of the most VFM SUVs in its segment.
