Mahindra Scorpio BS6 Specifications Revealed; Company Yet To Announce the Prices

Mahindra Scorpio BS6 Will Not Get An AT Option As Of Now. The Prices Are Expected To Be Revealed In Next Few Weeks.

As it is not a secret to anyone, Mahindra Scorpio BS6 was in works since a long time. The corona virus outbreak has put a hold on the brand’s plan to launch the Scorpio BS6 with updated prices. Regarded as one of the most popular vehicles of the country, the Mahindra Scorpio was once bread and butter for the Indian car maker.

Mahindra has updated its website with the specifications and other details about the Scorpio BS6. While there are no cosmetic changes made to the Scorpio, what is new in the car is the updated engine to ensure compliance with the new emission norms.

The Mahindra Scorpio BS6 will now be powered only by a single engine option. This engine is the brand’s existing 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, same as the one that powered the BS4 model, but it now is updated to meet the BS6 norms. The total power and torque output from this engine stands at 140 bhp @ 3,750 rmp and 320 Nm @1,500-2800 rpm respectively. The transmission options include a 5 speed MT (S5 Traim) and a 6 speed MT (S7, S9 and S11 trims). The automatic transmission and four-wheel drive options are no longer available with the BS6 model.

It is worth noting that no other changes have been made to the Scorpio. The car still retains the same feature list across the trims and comes in three seating options; seven seater, eight seater or nine seater. And for safety, Mahindra has equipped the Scorpio BS 6 with the following provisions as standard across the entire range: dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors, and high-speed alert system.

We expect that the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be launched by the last quarter of 2020 or early 2021.
